Frédéric Moynier, professor at the Institut de physique du globe de Paris (IPGP) and Université Paris Cité, and Deputy Director for Research at IPGP, has been elected a member of the Academia Europaea, one of the most renowned scientific academies in Europe.
Founded in 1988, the Academia Europaea brings together leading scholars from across all disciplines, from the natural sciences to the humanities. Election to the Academy, by invitation and following peer review, recognizes scientific careers marked by sustained and outstanding excellence.
As a cosmochemist, Frédéric Moynier develops high-precision isotopic approaches to trace the formation and evolution of planets. His work has notably contributed to a better understanding of the origin of volatile elements in the Solar System, as well as the processes that shaped the Earth and the Moon.
This election acknowledges an already strong international recognition, reflected in numerous distinctions, and confirms the leading role played by IPGP teams in the study of the origins and evolution of planets.
